Coal mine operations hit hard by blockade

Colombian coal miner Cerrejon said on April 5 that a blockade of a rail line and the entrance to an export terminal by residents of communities in Media Luna in La Guajira province is hampering its operations, XM reported citing Reuters. In 2020, a U.N. Special Rapporteur asked Cerrejon to suspend some operations at its mine due to health and environmental concerns.
