U.K.-based smaller vessel protection and indemnity provider The Shipowners’ Club and the International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds have established a central office at Oriental Mindoro in the Philippines to handle claims arising from a major oil spill, TradeWinds reported. The tanker spill came after the 1,143- deadweight tonnage Princess Empress, owned by Philippines-based Rdc Reield Marine Services Inc, with 800,000 liters of oil on board capsized on Feb. 28 due to heavy weather.
