Posted On: Mar. 22, 2023 9:51 AM CST

The Vermont treasurer’s office is working with lawmakers to create a public retirement plan called VTSaves, WCAX reports. The proposal, which has bipartisan support, would give thousands of workers access to an auto-deduct savings plan not currently offered by their employers. According to the AARP, nearly 100,000 Vermonters are not covered by a workplace retirement plan and 90% of them have no retirement plan whatsoever.
