Insurers rethink pricing as nat cat frequency and severity increases

Ratings agency A.M. Best Co. expects French insurers and reinsurers to increase premium levels and decrease their risk appetite for natural catastrophes as the frequency and severity of weather-related events like wildfires, storms and droughts increases, Captive International reported. The Federation Francaise de l'Assurance has pegged its latest insured weather-related natural catastrophe losses estimates for 2022 at around €10 billion ($10.7 billion).
