American travelers hitting the road

Citing a 9% increase in car rental bookings in 2023, Allianz Partners USA says “the call of the (domestic) open road” is trending this spring break.

The travel insurer’s review of the top rental car locations for spring break 2023, released Monday, found drivers are preferring the sunny beaches and mostly Southern U.S. cities.

In order of popularity: Orlando, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Tampa, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Denver, Dallas and San Diego.

The car rental findings align with Allianz’s recent survey of the company’s airline customers that found that 84% of travelers taking spring break trips in 2023 will remain stateside for the traditional travel season.
