Coverage gaps narrowed during the pandemic, but may be at risk: Study

Many Americans, including members of marginalized groups, gained coverage thanks to new flexibilities introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, but a new analysis finds those gains could be reduced when the public health emergency expires, reports Fierce Healthcare. The Commonwealth Fund analyzed federal data and found that 5 million people gained coverage between 2020 and early 2022. The increase drove the uninsured rate down to a historic low of 8%.
