Climate change, unrest and blackouts big risks to businesses

Lizo Mnguni, spokeswoman for Old Mutual Insure Ltd., said that power blackouts, climate change and bad weather, economic climate and civil unrest pose subsantial risks to businesses in South Africa, BusinessTech reported. Old Mutual has noticed a significant rise in claims, mainly power surges claims caused by frequent power outages. Mr. Mnguni added that there is a greater risk of civil unrest this year as compared to 2022, due to the instability of the grid.
