Hospitals charged commercial insurers excessive amounts: Study

Oregon hospitals charged commercial insurance plans “far more” than what was needed to cover their expenses in 2018 and 2019, according to a new analysis from the Oregon consumer advocacy nonprofit OSPIRG, reports the Portland Business Journal. From 2013 to 2019 in Oregon, health care costs per person rose 45% in the commercial insurance market, while income grew 32% and average wages 22% during that period.
