Plaintiffs ask 9th Circuit to review suit over UnitedHealth claims denials

UnitedHealth Group Inc. enrollees are asking a federal appeals court to reconsider a 2022 ruling limiting the insurer's obligation to cover mental health treatment, which they said had "disastrous consequences" for mental health and addiction patients, Reuters reports. In 2020, a lower court had ruled that United Behavioral Health had improperly denied mental health claims and ordered it to reprocess more than 50,000 claims under the oversight of a court-appointed special master.
