McGriff announces senior living promotion, hires construction exec from Aon

McGriff Insurance Services LLC on Monday promoted Michael Welz to senior vice president and national practice leader for the firm’s senior living practice and former Aon PLC executive Rafael Araujo has been named head of projects and public-private partnerships construction risk management in McGriff’s national construction practice.

Mr. Welz joined McGriff in March 2022 from Lockton Cos. LLC where he supported clients across the senior living industry within the health care practice. McGriff’s senior living practice has 45 employees and “is a major area of focus for McGriff,” Patrick Maguire, national director, specialty practices for McGriff, said in a statement.

Michael Welz, based in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, reports to Patrick Maguire, national director, specialty. 

Mr. Araujo, who is based in Miami, was most recently a senior vice president for Aon in its construction and infrastructure practice. He will lead McGriff’s construction risk management group and report to Danielle Ross, head of construction – risk management, the statement said.

McGriff Insurance Services LLC is a subsidiary of Truist Insurance Holdings LLC.
