New cash balance plans being added at faster rate than 401(k)s: Analysis

Cash balance retirement plans are the fastest-growing sector of the retirement plan market, with more than $1 trillion in assets nationwide, according to new research, Plansponsor reports. The analysis from FuturePlan by Ascensus, a plan administrator, found that the number of new cash balance plans increased 17% from 2017 through 2018 vs. just a 2% growth in new 401(k) plans.
