Burns & Wilcox to buy Louisiana MGA

Burns & Wilcox Ltd. said Thursday it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire McIntyre & Associates, a managing general agent based in Ruston, Louisiana.

Terms of the transaction, expected to close early in the second quarter, were not disclosed.

Among McIntyre & Associates’ specializations are contractors, lessor’s risk, restaurants, and special events and commercial packages, a Burns & Wilcox statement said.

McIntyre President Bart Dugdale will become associate managing director, reporting to Bonnie Steen, vice president and managing director for Burns & Wilcox Louisiana and Arkansas.

The McIntyre website shows 10 employees, all of whom are expected to join Burns & Wilcox, the statement said.

Burns & Wilcox President Danny Kaufman said in the statement the deal signals the company’s “aggressive acquisition strategy.”
