Premium growth, modest earnings to squeeze insurers’ capital

Emir Mujkic, credit analyst at S&P Global Ratings Inc., said that strong premium growth, ongoing high costs to meet new regulatory demands and relatively modest earnings will likely squeeze capital and solvency buffers of insurers in the Gulf Cooperation Council, Trade Arabia reported. Mr. Mujkic noted that the profitability declined in most of the GCC markets in 2022 despite an increase in premium incomes.
