Insurance pool pays over $59 million in quake-related claims so far

The Turkish Catastrophe Insurance Pool has so far paid 1.12 billion Turkish lira ($59 million) for 290,558 damage claims related to the deadly earthquakes that struck the nation on Feb. 6, Middle East Insurance Review reported. The country's agricultural insurance pool, Tarsim, has also paid out TRY4.25 million so far. The quakes killed nearly 619,800 cattle, sheep, and poultry, and destroyed more than 4,000 beehives.
