Lawmakers press HHS to curb ‘junk’ short-term health plans

Federal lawmakers are once again calling on the Department of Health and Human Services and the Biden administration to act against "junk" short-term health plans, especially as Medicaid redeterminations loom, reports Becker’s Payer Issues. Junk plans are short-term plans that don't have to cover pre-existing conditions and are allowed to bypass the Affordable Care Act's requirement to cover services such as maternity care and mental health treatments, the report says.
