Perils pegs insured windstorm losses at over $4 billion

Swiss catastrophe data provider Perils AG has pegged its final insured loss estimates for the European windstorm series that struck the British Isles and continental Europe in February 2022 at €3.85 billion ($4.1 billion), up from the previous estimate of €3.74 billion, Reinsurance News reported. The strong winds caused major disruption and widespread damage, with most of the losses coming from Germany. Perils also noted that 1.9 million insurance claims were filed following the weather events.
