Manufacturers halt operations as cargo languishes at port

Import restrictions and shortage of foreign exchange have resulted in thousands of shipping containers with essential raw materials and supplies worth billions of dollars to be stuck at Pakistan’s ports, gCaptain reported citing Bloomberg. As a result, manufacturers of automobiles, fertilizers, steel, and textiles in Pakistan, including the local unit of Suzuki Motor Corp., have shut their factories indefinitely or suspended operations intermittently.
