Michigan Blues reverses decision to drop coverage for county retirees

Genesee County , Michigan, retirees who have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan health coverage will now be able to keep their current plans, reports the Davison Index. In early January, the health insurer notified the county that it would no longer provide service for retirees effective June 1. But on Feb. 6, retirees were informed by the county that BCBSM has provided a waiver to allow them to continue accessing their insurance plans as a Genesee County retiree group.
