Skyward names head of new inland marine underwriting unit

Skyward Specialty Insurance Group Inc. on Thursday said former Richmond National Group Inc. executive Havis Wright will head the company’s newly launched inland marine underwriting unit.

Based in Richmond, Virginia, Mr. Wright will lead the growth and development of Skyward Specialty’s inland marine business including logistics, construction, energy and other specialized property markets, a statement said.

He reports to Kirby Hill, president of industry solutions and programs & captives. Mr. Wright’s role was created specifically to establish and expand the standalone inland marine underwriting unit for Skyward Specialty’s industry solutions division, according to an email from a spokesperson.

He most recently worked in the inland marine and commercial property at Richmond National.

The standalone business complements the inland marine coverages already established in Skyward’s construction and energy industry operations.

Skyward Specialty said it provides commercial property and casualty products on both a non-admitted and admitted basis through eight underwriting divisions — Accident and Health, Captives, Global Property, Industry Solutions, Professional Lines, Programs, Surety, and Transactional Excess and Surplus.
