Coverage of colon cancer screenings mandated at age 45

Starting June 1, health insurers must cover colonoscopies in New Jersey starting at age 45 under new legislation signed into law this month, reports NJ105.com. The new law will eliminate financial barriers to lifesaving screenings requiring health insurers to cover colorectal cancer screenings starting at age 45, the age recommended by the United States Preventive Services Task Force. The law also eliminates cost-sharing for colonoscopies performed following a positive result on a non-colonoscopy, colorectal cancer screening test.
