Copper mine forced to halt operations due to violent protests

Violent protests and blockades in Peru forced mining company MMG Ltd. to halt operations at its Las Bambas copper mine on Feb. 1 and place it on care and maintenance, BNamericas reported. The miner had 85,000 tons of copper inventory at the end of 2022 as it could not be transported due to the protests.
