Growing claims, costs to erode underwriting margins of French insurers

U.S.-based Fitch Ratings Inc. said that said that rising claims and reinsurance costs due to persistent high inflation and climate change will erode underwriting margins in the French non-life insurance sector, Reinsurance News reported. Fitch's deteriorating outlook for the sector reflects its expectation that credit fundamentals will begin to worsen over the next 12 months.
