Axis posts 7% growth in premiums

Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer Axis Capital Holdings Ltd.'s gross premiums written increased 7% year-on-year to $8.2 billion in 2022, Reinsurance News reported. Axis Capital recorded $403 million in pre-tax catastrophe and weather-related losses, net of reinsurance and reinstatement premiums, driven by losses from catastrophe and weather-related events, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the war in Ukraine.
