The Starr Foundation has donated $15 million to Georgia State University’s risk management education program, the university said Tuesday.

In recognition of the gift, which is the largest in the history of Georgia State’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business, the college will rename its risk management and insurance department the Maurice R. Greenberg School of Risk Science. Mr. Greenberg is the chairman and CEO of Starr Insurance Cos. and chairman of the Starr Foundation.

The funds will be used to establish an honors scholarship program, develop a cross-disciplinary program including endowed scholarships for students pursuing other majors and fund infrastructure for the program.

Georgia State is the 12th-largest risk management and insurance school, ranked by undergraduate enrollment, according to Business Insurance’s most recent ranking. It is the second-largest ranked by graduates completing advanced degrees.
