UnitedHealthcare TPA subsidiary challenges state health plan switch

United Medical Resources, a third-party administration subsidiary of UnitedHealthcare Inc., is the second payer to file a protest against North Carolina's decision to award its state health plan contract to Aetna Inc., Becker’s Payer Issues reports. North Carolina State Treasurer Dale Folwell said Jan. 4 that the state would turn over management of its health plan for state employees to Aetna in 2025, the report says. Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, which has held the contract for over 40 years, filed a challenge to the state's decision Jan. 12.
