Fertility treatment benefits would add $1 million to plan costs: Report

Including fertility treatment benefits in Austin, Texas’s employee insurance plan would add about $1 million to the annual cost of the city’s plan, reports the Austin Monitor. According to  Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Texas, the city’s insurance provider, such benefits would include “in vitro fertilization, cryopreservation and (additional) support for adoption, foster care, and kinship placement services.” The city is already projecting large price hikes for employee insurance in 2024, the memo said.
