Meta appeals to high court to overturn $439 million fine

Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd., a subsidiary of Facebook owner Meta Platforms Inc., has appealled to the country’s high court to challenge a €405 million ($439 million) fine issued in September 2022 for breaching the privacy rights of teenagers, Independent.ie reported. In proceedings aimed at overturning the fine, Meta claims that the Irish Data Protection Commission's ruling is unlawful and disproportionate as it took irrelevant decisions and breached rights to a fair hearing.
