Armed robbery and piracy incidents rise in Singapore Strait

The Singapore Strait witnessed an increase in the number of piracy and armed robbery incidents from 49 in 2021 to 55 in 2022, The Straits Times reported. About 41 of these cases were linked to bigger ships, while the remaining involved supply vessels and tugboats. Meanwhile, the whole of Asia saw a 2% increase in such incidents.
