ACA co-op in Montana one of few remaining, thriving for individual cover

Mountain Health Co-op is one of the few Affordable Care Act health insurance cooperatives that has managed to thrive, now covering about 55,000 people for 2023 in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming, reports the Montana Free Press. In the individual market, Mountain Health Co-op has almost 40% of the Montana market, second only to the state’s dominant insurer, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana. The turnaround comes after the co-op was barely hanging on in the early 2010s.
