Climate disruption to cost ports $7.5 billion per year: Study

The U.K. Environmental Change Institute has estimated that geological risks such as earthquakes and climate change, cause $7.5 billion of damage every year to ports around the world, The Loadstar reported. The institute said that 40% of 1,340 ports globally are exposed to maritime hazards, including tropical storms and flooding, Ports in Western Europe were found to be particularly vulnerable to fluvial and coastal flooding.
