Wildfire damages hit $2.15 billion in 2022: EU commissioner

Janez Lenarcic, commissioner for crisis management in the European Commission, said that wildfires caused at least €2 billion ($2.15 billion) in damage last year in the European Union, EuroNews reported. Last yeaer was the second-worst year in terms of areas burnt since records began in 2006, with at least 800,000 hectares scorched across the bloc.
