Judge recommends cut to lawyer fees in Humana data breach class action

A Florida judge is recommending that lawyers who settled a class action lawsuit against Humana Inc. and health care analytics company Cotiviti over a data breach should receive a lower fee than they asked for, Becker’s Payer Issues reports. According to Bloomberg Law, U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Sean Flynn found that an award of $300,000 — equal to 37.5% of the class's fund — was unreasonable given how quickly the case was settled.
