You know times are bad when the rent is overdue.

Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters landlord is suing the social media platform, stating Twitter owes $136,260 in rent, according to media reports.

Twitter’s new CEO Elon Musk has been in cost-costing mode since purchasing the platform for $44 billion in October, after trying to get out of the deal. Landlord Columbia Property Trust’s lawsuit, filed Thursday, is just another sign of the times, just as Bloomberg reported that Mr. Musk has lost the largest amount of money – more than $200 billion — in history.

The New York Times reported that Mr. Musk and his advisers had hoped to renegotiate terms of lease agreements after mass layoffs. Twitter closed its Seattle offices, cutting janitorial and security services, according to the newspaper, which also reported that remaining employees were left to bring their own toilet paper to work.
