Search engine launched to allow 401(k) performance, cost comparisons

A Pittsburgh computer scientist has launched a search engine called Benchmine that allows users to do comparative analysis on more than 54,000 company 401(k) retirement plans, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The online tool, offered by OnlyBoth Inc. lets users see how their own 401(k) balances and annual contributions stack up with the average balances of workers in their particular company or make comparisons with the average balances of workers at any other company nationwide.
