Porter County, Indiana’s health insurance fund has received $1.6 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds, after come uncomfortably close to being depleted, reports the Northwest Indiana Times. Before the federal money was used, there was just $13,000 in the fund and the county was on the brink of having to deny claims for lack of money. The ARPA funding was approved by the council in November and by the Board of Commissioners in December.
