Hyundai E&C gets embroiled in bribery case

Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission is planning to arrest a former broker of South Korean construction firm Hyundai Engineering and Construction Co. Ltd. for allegedly bribing a high-ranking local official to win the Cirebon coal-fired power plant project in 2019, Business Korea reported. Although Hyundai E&C denies the bribery allegations, Indonesian city Cirebon’s former regent, Sunjaya Purwadisastra said that he had received a total of 550 million South Korean won ($421,834) in bribes from Hyundai E&C on six occasions.
