Among Californians enrolled in the Affordable Care Act marketplace, perceptions about plan value and expectations about how often they would need health care services were more likely to motivate them to drop coverage and go uninsured than cost-related reasons, a new study found, reports Healthpayer Intelligence. A mean of 14% of those who left the Affordable Care Act marketplace became uninsured, rather than seek coverage under another option, such as employer-provided coverage or Medicaid, according to the study published in JAMA Health Forum.
