Mapfre Re seeks capital infusion of over $260 million

Spanish insurer Mapfre Re’s board of directors has agreed to a capital injection of €250 million ($263.5 million) in a bid to strengthen its reinsurance capacity and take advantage of price hikes, Reinsurance News reported. Funding for the capital infusion will be sourced internally through the surplus resulting from Mapfre’s exit from bancassurance partnerships.
