Balance of power tips towards reinsurance, retro providers

Analysts at German investment banking firm Joh. Berenberg Gossler & Co. KG said that the balance of power is skewing towards the property reinsurance and retrocession protection providers over buyers as the market continues to harden, Artemis reported. The shift of power towards reinsurers and retro capacity providers is accelerated by market hardening and less new capacity as claims costs and risks increase while appetite for natural catastrophe risks decreases.
