EC fines five companies nearly $163 million for styrene cartel

The European Commission fined five companies, including U.K.-based chemicals business Synthomer PLC, a total of €157 million ($162.9 million) for participating in a cartel that colluded over reducing the industry reference price of styrene between May 2012 and June 2018, Reuters reported. Other companies  that were fined included U.S.-based Trinseo, Poland-based Synthos, Austrian firm Sunpor and Dutch company Synbra.
