Britam refuses to underwrite East African Crude Oil Pipeline

Kenyan insurer Britam Holdings Ltd. has refused to provide insurance coverage to TotalEnergies’ East African Crude Oil Pipeline, which is meant to transport oil between Uganda and Tanzania, EnergyVoice reported. Britam conducted an environmental and social risk evaluation of the pipeline before deciding to opt out of underwriting the controversial project.
