Sompo International sees 57% jump in underwriting profits

Bermuda-based insurer Sompo International Holdings Ltd.’s underwriting profits jumped 57% year-on-year to $367 million in the first half of this fiscal year, Reinsurance News reported. Rate hikes and increased retention within crop insurance helped in driving up the net premiums written by more than 28% to $5.9 billion.
