MS Amlin slips to first-half loss

U.K.-based insurer and reinsurer MS Amlin Ltd. posted a net loss of £131 million ($155 million) in the first half of the financial year versus a profit of £33 million in the year-ago period, Reinsurance News reported. The insurer attributed the loss mostly to Hurricane Ian, for which it expects to pay out £157 million in claims. MS Amlin’s net premiums written reached £2.19 billion, up from £1.92 billion in 2021.
