Pennsylvania city joins purchasing coalition to lower insurance costs

The Connellsville, Pennsylvania, City Council approved a proposal to purchase health insurance through a cooperate, which is expected to reduce its health insurance cost next year by $60,000, reports the Daily Courier. The Council unanimously approved a motion to purchase employee health insurance coverage through the Pennsylvania Municipal Health Insurance Cooperative, which combines purchasing power of municipalities and other local government agencies for lower rates.
