More than 2,400 miners at Chile’s Escondida mine – the world’s biggest copper mine – have declared a three-day strike starting Nov. 21 to protest against “serious security incidents" at the mine, News18 reported. The strike comes as the miners accuse the owner, Australia-based BHP Billiton Ltd., of not taking serious prevention measures despite the occurrence of serious accidents recently, including three fires.
