Insurer Boxx buys cyber threat intelligence firm

Toronto-based cyber insurer Boxx Insurance Inc. on Tuesday said it had acquired cyber threat intelligence firm Templarbit Inc.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Templarbit was founded by Bjoern Zinssmeister in 2017 and has teams in Los Angeles and Palo Alto, California, a statement said. Its technology helps alert users to vulnerabilities in their network that hackers can exploit.

Mr. Zinssmeister will join Boxx as head of engineering, Boxx Labs, Boxx’s newly formed research and development division.

Such “proactive cyber risk protection” is “strategically important,” Vishal Kundi, Boxx’s co-founder and CEO, said in the statement.
