Nissan temporarily halts taking new EV orders

Japan-based Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. has temporarily stopped taking new orders of its electric vehicle Sakura and the X-Trail crossover SUV in the country because of prolonged delivery periods of a year or more as demand is surpassing its production capacity, ET Auto.com reported citing Reuters. Strong orders and the global semiconductor chip shortage, which had cast uncertainty over the production plan for the next fiscal year, have led to a prolonged delivery period.
