RenRe’s net loss widens 83% mainly due to Hurricane Ian

Bermuda-based reinsurer RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd.’s net loss widened by more than 83% year-on-year to approximately $825 million in the third quarter of the year, mainly due to losses from Hurricane Ian and other catastrophe events, The Royal Gazette reported. The reinsurer’s gross premiums written increased to more than $2.2 billion, up from $1.8 billion in the year-ago comparable period.
