Insured losses from typhoon Nanmadol estimated at $773 million

Swiss catastrophe data provider Perils AG said that typhoon Nanmadol, which battered Japanese islands in September, has caused an estimated $773 million in insured losses – a figure lower than initially predicted, Reinsurance News reported. The lower-than-expected loss level can be attributed to Nanmadol’s track and the fact that the affected areas are frequently exposed to extreme weather events and therefore well prepared to withstand their impact.
