Strike

The South African Association of Freight Forwarders said that the 11-day strike by local ports and freight rail operator Transnet SOC Ltd.’s workers has affected the movement of more than 65 billion South African rand ($3.6 billion) worth of goods, News24 reported. Operations are likely to return to normal levels in early 2023. The strike started on Oct. 6, but Transnet and the labor unions have now agreed on a wage deal and the strike has come to an end.
